Yes, Baldarroch Chapel and Crematorium operates under the auspices of the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorites (FBCA). To ensure compliance we operate under their Code of Cremation Practice; a copy of which can be found here. Further details on FBCA’s roles and responsibilites can be found on their website http://www.fbca.org.uk.
In addition to operating under FBCA guidlines we are also subject to six monthly inspections by Robert Swanson QPM, the Inspector of Crematoria for Scotland who operates on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Baldarroch Chapel and Crematorium must also adhere to a permit issued the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) to ensure we operate to the highest possible standards to avoid polluting the atmosphere. SEPA carry out a twice yearly inspection to ensure that we are operating under the terms of our permit. Further information on SEPA is available at their website https://www.sepa.org.uk/.
